After 3 beautiful babies in 3 years, 2 weeks after the birth of our third, we ended up in the hospital with the worst clotting case our doctors have seen. It has been a tough time in the hospital for the last 3 weeks and still more time to come here as the doctors as well as ourselves seek clear answers…
My name is Jordan, wife to Adam and 28 year old mom of 5. Ages ranging from 12 down to 1 month. At 2 weeks postpartum, I had decided to go to the hospital with severe abdominal pain I had thought was constipation. So I got home from an errand Friday and asked my husband to drive me there while my sister watched our kids. When Adam and I got to the ER in Stillwater, they wanted to run some tests for things I wasn’t asking about and we were getting confused as to why. We allowed a CT scan and no more tests until our results were back so we could have some answers. Once the CT scan results were back, she told me I had a large blood clot in my Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) and one more by my ovary, essentially blocking blood flow in my abdomen. The ER decided the case was too big and shipped me to OU Medical in OKC in the early morning hours. If I laid out every detail it would be a small novel. Here are the important details;
⁃ I was admitted for major clotting in my IVC
⁃ I’ve been through 3 major surgeries in the first 18 days
⁃ After every single surgery I have immediately reclotted and the clots have even spread.
⁃ Finally, Hematology got involved and told me I am allergic to heparin, a blood thinner they had used off and on much of the time
We don’t know why I clotted after the third surgery. Before that procedure, I was therapeutic to a different blood thinner they had me on so it was a freak thing I suppose. My case was brought up in conference locally and then to top Doctors and surgeons around the country and despite all their hundreds of years combined experience are still baffled and leave us looking for answers.
This was made to help support my family and I during this critical time and the time to come. We ask for your love and continued support as we are looking at a very difficult healing process of at least a year until I gain some sense of normality. This battle is far from over and I will continue to fight to be there for my husband and my kids, just as they (and so many of you) have fought for me throughout this process.
We need help financially to help cover the medical bills of a 3+ week hospital stay, the price of PT and in home health, other expenses post recovery such as medication and continued doctor visits, and so much in loss of wages because my husband has taken the best care of me.
We also need help spiritually and would love prayer for continued strength, provision, and peace that only our Most High God can provide.
We would accept any help you are able to provide, and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
