Robert Eldon Edward Steele was born on October 8, 2014. He is a very happy baby with very real problems.
After multiple visits to local Wyoming and Montana doctors Robert was admitted to the Denver Children’s Hospital on February 18, 2015.
Robert has an amazing team of doctors! After multiple tests and much discussion he has been diagnosed with Laryngomalacia (a breathing defect) and a Failure to Thrive.
Robert has had a Supraglottophsty surgery to correct a deformity to his vocal cords. With this surgery an NG-Tube was required to give his throat time to recover. However, in these weeks Robert's health has been declining and his family has just been told he will require a permanent G-Tube to be surgically placed as soon as possible.
Robert will be admitted to the Denver Children's Hospital on the morning of Monday, March 23, 2014 to undergo this surgery. Next week he will also undergo an MRI of the head and chest, a PH Probe, and a sleep study.
Beyond this next week Robert will require his G-Tube to be replaced in 6 weeks, he will require special food, and he will remain on oxygen. Robert will also undergo genetic testing as soon as possible.
In addition to all of this disconcerting news, Robert's family insurance has stated that they will only cover a minimal amount of these medical costs. Furthermore, they are struggling to pay for their considerable travel and accommodation costs to and from Denver, CO.
Robert has an amazing Mother (Margaret) and Father (Kevin) and two big brothers, Dean and Jackson. Please, if you can help this very loving and deserving family see some light in these circumstances it will be much appreciated.
Please keep baby Robert and his family in your prayers.
With all my gratitude,
Robert's Auntie Lexie
