Saving Margarita's Home
Like so many who have been impacted by the economic crash of 2008, me and my family have experienced personal, medical and economic hardships. Each Domino that fell brought economic disasters that almost tanked my physical and spiritual life. The greatest of the consequences was the medical hardships that put my home in jeopardy, 4.5 years ago when I was diagnosed with the first of two near death experiences.

While I've been battling and striving to overcome these challenges, there seems to be one more hurdle to overcome, court dates pushed upon by an aggressive law firm. Luckily, one of my sons has secured funding to help me payoff my mortgage bank, and I am grateful! It feels as if the the Universe, God or Karmic Law has finally decided to give me their blessings. Unfortunately, we're having trouble getting the mortgage bank to respond to my 'Payoff Request'.

On Monday, September 23rd, I have to go into court to oppose the Motion to Rule for Summary Judgement in favor of the mortgage bank. I need the help of an attorney to help me enter into evidence the stonewalling that the attorneys are doing to stop me from saving my home. From all appearances and non responses from the mortgage company's attorneys, it looks as if they are simply trying to force me out of my home, even as I am attempting to pay them off completely. I made the first payoff request on September 4th, and still no 'Payoff Quote'.

I am raising money for short term legal support for this court date and other related expenses. Currently, I am a Pro Se attorney for myself. I have located one attorney that is willing to help me. At one point, I had a Pro Bono attorney, and we went into mediation, which cost me greatly and unfortunately it was a seemingly pointless effort. The fees and other expenses were money down a black hole.

My Pro Bono attorney was able to point out that the mortgage company had a bad history and had been sued by the Federal Reserve for doing to hundreds of families, back east, what they're attempting to do to me now. This mortgage company was found guilty of taking money from the two large bailouts back during the Great Recession and then unfairly and illegally taking people's homes, even as they had received money from tax payer funded bailouts, in order to help families stay in their homes. Families and the Federal Reserve were able to prove that the mortgage company had never dealt in 'good faith' with these families. As a result of these and other violations, this mortgage bank had to pay huge fines.

Despite this bank's history, the Pro Bono attorney dropped me as a client. This is why I am asking for my friends and family to help support these legal and related expenses. This is an attempt to save my home. The initial and immediate need is for the attorney Monday. Every amount, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated. I am a multimedia artist and human rights activist and can offer a variety of handcrafted gifts in exchange for donations of $25 or higher. Helping me to save my home ensures my continued participation and ongoing organizing work in the progressive and rural communities.
