Dawn Lawrence is a mother of four, daughter, aunt, sister, friend, nurse, and an amazing Director of our Emergency Department. She has such a warm heart and sees the good in everyone she meets. I feel blessed to have even met her. She deserves to live a long life, be there for her children as they grow, and to continue doing what she loves most, caring for others. After months of pain and questions left unanswered, Dawn was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease in August of 2012.
ALS is a horrific disease that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. It prevents the nourishment of the muscles which in time causes them to weaken and waste away. The progression of the disease leads to their death as the muscles used to breathe stop working. The things we take for granted like speaking, brushing your own teeth, feeding yourself, walking...are taken from you.
Dawn is a fighter. She won't give up and neither will we.
100% of the money raised will go directly to Dawn.
