Help Affording Cats’ Medication To Save Their Lives

(4/19 update) I originally created this fundraiser for a community cat that I was fostering that had a very deadly disease, FIP, and needed expensive medication. I never got the chance to post it since Odin and his best friend, Beefcake, sadly passed away from it. I tried so hard to save them, and I’ve been heartbroken ever since.

Now in some sort of awful cat twilight zone, my elderly neighbor’s 2 cats have the same disease after I got them fixed (it can be triggered by spaying/neutering). He was unable to afford the vet or anything at all for them, so my only option was to just start treating them based on the same symptoms as mine (or let them die a terrible death within weeks). I took them into my home to foster for the 3 month treatment, as it’s the only way to save their lives.

It has been an awful 2 weeks of syringe feeding them every few hours and having to medicate 2 cats that are fighting it twice a day. But thank goodness, they’re both finally improving, eating on their own, and not on their deathbeds anymore.

The only problem I now face is being able to afford the rest of the medication. Normally it costs thousands to treat, but I have gone with the less preferred yet less expensive option since I didn’t have any other choice, and the total will be around $600 for the medicine compared to $2000+. They really need to go to a vet over the 84 days, so if I am able to raise any extra at all beyond that then it would be so amazing to get them the proper veterinary care they deserve.

I have other cat fosters in my house right now from my neighborhood that I’ve had fixed and vaccinated and am finding homes for. I already couldn’t even afford to do all of that for them, but I’ve been trying so hard to help them all on top of my own animals. Now this new huge expense of my neighbor’s cats has just really pushed me over the edge mentally not knowing how I’m going to be able to order more medicine that I really need to in the next few days.

The only other alternative is euthanasia and I could never allow that to happen to his cats when this disease is now curable if you have the money. Each bottle of liquid medicine is $165 and I need 3-4 more bottles to finish the treatment (and syringes, churus to swallow meds, all types of food to get them to eat, pee pads and cleaning supplies for the incontinence , and so much more…)

If there are any animal lovers with the means to help or someone who has an FIP survivor and knows how hard it was, I would be so incredibly grateful for any donation whatsoever. Even just $1! Angus and Bella would thank you for the rest of their lives that you helped save ❤️

Also, if you’re a cat parent, please google FIP and learn about it and the warning signs for the sake of your cat’s lives! (Less active, not jumping high, not eating as much, dull coat, growing stomach if it’s the “wet” version, possible neuro signs, etc.) My 2 cats would probably still be alive if I knew early enough, but at least that experience allowed me to be able to tell right away what was wrong with my neighbor’s cats (and hopefully anyone else that sadly has to go through this would catch it early enough too).
