Help Totoro Fight for His Life

Totoro is a seven year old sweetheart who was found wandering the streets of Massachusetts before being rescued by Broken Tail Rescue. His previous owners called him Paxton, but when he came into my care as a foster, I renamed him Totoro because he looks just like the gentle forest spirit from My Neighbor Totoro.

Totoro is completely blind, yet he’s one of the most affectionate and trusting souls I’ve ever met. From the moment he arrived, I knew he was my son. I wanted to show him what it means to be chosen and loved, to finally have a forever home.

Before I could officially adopt him, everything changed. A few days ago, Totoro became very sick and could barely move. His potassium levels dropped dangerously low, and after multiple tests, we found out he has:

Severe hypokalemia (low potassium)

A heart murmur and thickening of the heart wall

A tumor on his adrenal gland near the kidneys

He’s been hospitalized since Wednesday, receiving treatment, IV fluids, and electrolytes to stabilize him while we continue testing to understand the tumor and heart condition.

Broken Tail Rescue has been absolutely incredible, they’ve covered as much as they can and have stood by Totoro every step of the way, but we need help to continue his care. His medical bills are quickly growing, and every dollar will go toward giving him the chance to recover, get the treatment he deserves, and finally come home.
