Hello! My name is Anna Marine and I'm an artist and illustrator.

This is my father, Sergey.

My Dad has been diagnosed with central cancer of the left lung. The good news is that there is a really big chance to save his life. The bad news is that it all happened at a time of financial crisis in our country: My sister has lost her job and our small family of three - my sister, our father, and me - face some very tough times. I'm the only person in the family who is working right now.
My father was a military man. He was in Afghanistan in 1980 and after he was wounded he returned home. He worked as an ambulance driver for 30 years until his retirement in 2012. Our father-daughter relationship was never simple. There were many bad times but his illness has made us closer than ever. We are committed to fight this together. He's only 62 years old and wants nothing more to recover and live a long, happy life.

My father is diagnosed with moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, phase 3A. It is possible for him to have operation to save him and his lung, removing only a part of it. Right now we need to have the following analysis: Computerized tomography (CT scan) of the abdominal cavity, computerized tomography (CT scan) of the chest, bronchoscopy, ultrasonic scanning, MRI of the brain, functional examination of the lungs, and three to four chemotherapy sessions both before and after his operation. Of all the procedures, the operation is the most expensive part of the treatment and will cost $23,000 alone. The total cost will be approximately $34,000.
Asking for this help is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I've been on my own working since I was 17-years old and I've always had to count on myself. Difficult times change your perspective and every day now is very important. I am really afraid that we will miss our chance to grow closer as a family. Please help me save his life!
If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer. If you want a personal thank you for your donation - a print, a bookmark, postcard - please email me at anna-[email redacted] and I will be happy to send it to you. Thank you all so much and I promise to keep you updated with more photos and news soon!
This campaign is possible thanks to my dear friend Dallas Bloom, who created and will administer it. I've known him almost five years and he is the most amazing, kind man that I've ever met. I'm thankful to him for standing by me in the good and dark times of my life.
