Since receiving a life saving kidney transplant in 2016 I’ve traded in the dialysis for nearly 10 of battling with wounds and infections in my feet, I’ve faced a medical battle that turned my world upside down. After countless surgeries and treatments to save my left leg, I ultimately lost it. Learning to walk again with a prosthetic took everything I had—but I did it. I found a new kind of strength, and I was determined to move forward.
Now, just as I was starting to regain a sense of normalcy, I’m facing the unthinkable: the possibility of losing my right leg too.
What I’m Facing Now
I’ve developed two serious ulcers on my right foot, and both are infected. I’m currently on IV antibiotics three times a day, and doctors have ordered me to avoid putting any weight on my foot.
But life doesn’t stop. I still need to pay rent, afford food, and cover daily expenses. I’ve been doing what I can—driving for Uber—but even that small amount of work is causing stress on my foot and preventing healing.
Why I Need Your Help
This is a critical moment. I’m caught in a heartbreaking dilemma:
• If I rest like I need to, I can’t work.
• If I work, I risk losing my remaining leg.
I’ve set up this GoFundMe in the hope of raising enough support to allow me to rest, heal, and get the treatment I need without risking everything.
Your donation will help cover:
• Daily living expenses while I’m unable to work
• Medical costs not fully covered by insurance
• Transportation to medical appointments
• Essential support for recovery and mobility
How You Can Make a Difference
I hate asking for help, but right now, I don’t have another option. Every donation—no matter the size—makes a meaningful difference. And if you’re unable to give financially, sharing this campaign with your community is just as valuable.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for standing with me during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Kenneth Maclean
