Saving My Best Friend Lu

Donation protected

Lu has known his share of trauma in life. He was brought to an animal shelter, a few days old, in an incredibly sickly state with major trauma to his eyes. The shelter said he was hopeless and that they would euthanize him immediately.

A very special woman oveheard this and actually stole Lu from the animal shelter! She fostered him for about 6 weeks and originally named him "Lucky" because it was a miracle that he lived. This was over six years ago! They were able to save one of his eyes, though his "good eye" is scarred and obstructs his vision.

When he came into my care (his third family), he was a scaredy cat, where for weeks I would only see his backside sticking out from some place he was able to fit his head... But he has become the most affectionate and loving best friend and I will do anything to save his life...

but I need your help.

He is my #CyclopsBestFriend.

------

Earlier this week my little fur baby "blocked," which means he was unable to go to the bathroom due to a combination of things that had to be surgically removed on Monday night.

The past three days of recovery have been rough. We were all optimistic that it had cured him and he would be able to go potty freely, heal, and go back to being the happy, loving, kitty he is. But unfortunately, it didn't go that way.

This morning he blocked again. When cats are blocked they have about 24 hours before their kidneys begin to shut down - so we have decided to go for the second surgery immediately.

As I write this now on Friday the 25th at 11AM, Lu is being put to sleep for a second really expensive procedure that hospitalizes him for 48 hours.
We were able to pay for the first procedure which totaled about $2500 - that included the procedure, hospitalization, X-Rays, blood tests, and medicine.

The second procedure is almost double due to the fact that it is much more complicated due to the first surgery, and the veterinarian wants to keep him in the hospital for an extended period of time under urgent care.

Unfortunately I cannot afford for the second hospitalization. I have put a deposit on the bill and will most likely take out an animal care credit card to pay when I pick him up over the weekend.

I need to come up with the funds by the end of the weekend or at least by the end of the 6 month 0% interest on the care credit card.

I am desperately seeking help to keep my best friend with me for many more years.

Together, we have the chance to save his life.
Please help us.

With love and hope,
-Lu's Family
