I want to start by saying that Jolie has a TOTALLY CURABLE (although inoperable) skin cancer, and the quicker we are able to raise the money for her radiation, the less likely it is to spread anywhere else!!! With your help, she can live a full, healthy, CANCER-FREE life! But that's not the only reason I am trying to save her! Read more below! 



For over 10 years, Jolie has been on my lap... Even when I was in the bathroom. She was my first pet after my divorce, she moved from Dallas to LA with me, has watched countless hours of TV with me, but most importantly, she has always stuck by me, no matter what I was going through. 


Some of you may know that I have struggled with anxiety and depression, and although all of my pets are loving, Jolie is the one who notices I am having a panic attack and comes to lay on me. In times when it was the darkest and I didn't see a way out... She was always within arm's reach. She's been a source of strength for me when I feel unstable, and I know that no matter how unlovable I may feel... She loves me and I'm not alone. Jolie has been crucial to my healing and mental health. 


About 4 years ago I noticed a small scratch on her nose. After a couple of weeks I noticed she kept knocking the scab off and it didn't seem to be healing so I took her to the vet and they gave me antibiotics and sent us home. A few months later, as the problem persisted, I took her back but the answer was the same... "Put her in a cone, and it should heal up nicely." Well, after a few more unhelpful visits, years of cones, and supplements, homeopathic and medical remedies, nothing helped. The scratch continued to grow and slowly take over her face. I thought it was just scarring from the repeated trauma. 


We would get so close to it looking completely healed, and then something would happen and it would reopen. I finally got to the end of the road on options and decided to take her to a different veterinarian for a second opinion. Within minutes I heard something I never ever considered.... She might have cancer. 

I was devastated... How could I not know?!? How could I not have been told this was possible? Am I going to lose my cat? 


Jolie has a Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumor on her face. The reason she keeps knocking off the scab is because this type of tumor releases hystamines which are like an allergy or a bug bite, so it is very itchy and irritating.

Good news, it's NOT a death sentence. Bad news... It's inoperable.

The only treatment option available is radiation. After our latest visit to the oncologist they have determined that the prognosis is GOOD, and if she undergoes radiation she will very likely be CANCER FREE to live out the rest of her long and happy (albeit LAZY) life. 


Unfortunately, the cost of the treatment is far out of my reach, and there isn't really a middle ground on the treatment. If I'm unable to afford radiation, her quality of life will be very low having to undergo regular steroid shots, multiple daily prescriptions, and living full time in a cone. Not to mention the constant itching and continued growth on her face, which will eventually impede on her sinuses, and possibly spread to other places in her body. So the most ethical thing to do would be to put her down. 


I read that "some clinics report that 2 out of every 3 pets they put to sleep are because the owner cannot afford to treat an otherwise treatable condition." I am hoping that with your your help, I am able to avoid economic euthanasia and save Jolie.
