Jasper came into their lives at a time when his family was struggling with loss and heartbreak.

After losing their emotional support & service companion dog of 14+ years , then fostering traumatized rescue dogs, our household was searching for comfort and healing.

Jasper was gifted with the hope that he could grow into another emotional support companion. He is still learning how to respond to his owner's medical needs but as a puppy he quickly became the emotional support dog for a rescue dog struggling with her trauma.

While Jasper was expected to be a brilliant German Shepherd, he is a bit slower and identifies more as an awkward Scooby-Doo doppelganger. He inspires laughter in strangers daily.

He’s brought love, levity, and comfort to his home.

Recently, Jasper faced a life-threatening emergency when his spleen twisted, blocking blood flow for days, and requiring urgent surgery to remove it.

He’s now recovering but needs constant monitoring to ensure there are no life-threatening complications and while his kidneys and liver adapt.

His emergency happened at a time his family lives with new daily fears as they struggle to support elderly parents, children in college, while their roles in scientific research and nonprofits are under constant attack.

We’re asking for help with Jasper's unexpected surgery.

His family is focused on Jasper’s recovery and providing a safe, loving home for him as he heals.

Usage of Funds: Any support will go directly toward his medical bills ($3000, ) follow-up visits & blood work tests as he begins his life without a spleen ($280) and the care he needs to heal (supplies and supervision) ($450)
