Hurricane Harvey flooding in Beaumont, Texas severely damaged my grandparents' home of 40 years, and destroyed most of their belongings.
Unfortunately, they did not have flood insurance – their area was never considered a flood zone before Harvey.

The elderly couple, Ruth and Johnnie (age 89 and 94) – is using their shrinking savings to rent a house, and begin the expensive construction process of rebuilding their home and replacing its contents – everything from furniture to shoes and clothing.
These new expenses couldn't have come at a worse time. My grandfather has been fighting two kinds of Cancer (Colon and Multiple Myeloma) as well as Diabetes for the past several years, and is burdened with ongoing medical bills.
Ruth and Johnnie have done so much to help others – delivering Meals on Wheels to the disabled and homebound in their community, volunteering at Some Other Place, taking in family members needing a place to live while going through a difficult time, and assisting those in need of financial help for school or medical issues. Johnnie is also a World War II Veteran.
Now they are in need of help.
