Diva Cat's Cancer Surgery & Chemo

Donation protected

Diva was recently diagnosed with intestinal cancer, which has been pretty devastating. She has always been a special needs cat since I adopted her from the Richmond SPCA. Her mom was a stray and had the feline herpes virus, but died while at the shelter and pregnant. They rushed her into surgery in hopes of saving the kittens, but only two were able to make it. Due to the herpes virus, her right eyelid is actually fused to her eye, and she has a weakened immune system. She was labeled as an angel pet, and the SPCA did everything they could to ensure she was going to a safe home where she would be properly cared for.

Fortunately, her sister was adopted rather quickly since she didn't have as many health issues that could potentially be costly in the future. The SPCA wanted to adopt them together, but sadly, they were separated. Diva became depressed after this and she was moved into the chief veterinarian's office in hopes of lifting her spirits.

One weekend I went to the SPCA with the intention of adopting a small dog - never had a desire to get a cat. When walking through the lobby, a small black cat literally reached out and grabbed me. That was Diva. They moved her out of the office one weekend in hopes someone would adopt this black kitten. Thankfully, for both of us, she found me.

I know all pets are special, but Diva has literally saved my life. During a period of severe depression I experienced several years ago, I was seriously considering just calling it quits. I would not have left that dark place, or even be here today, if it was not for her. She has saved my life, and I will do whatever I can to save hers.

Fast forward to today...she will need surgery and chemotherapy. Although I am making lifestyle changes and taking extra work to pay for this myself, it still won't cover the costly procedure that is necessary. To make matters worse, the oncologist I consulted with in Virginia Beach is withholding treatment protocols from her veterinarian, so I am having to take her to Richmond for treatment (about 2 hours away).

I know some of you know Diva, and also know how special she is to me. If you don't know Diva, you can take my word that she is a special cat who deserves the chance to live a happy life for as long as possible. I cannot begin to express how much I would sincerely appreciate your support. I don't ask for help often (if ever), but I'm here asking now.

Here are some ways donations are used:

$10 - Pain medication (10 capsules)

$15 - 1 case of baby wipes / cat litter
