After a few tumbles, a good bang against the pavement, and the new motorcycle he just purchased for his birthday in early April continuing down the road without him, it all ended. Remington was not only taken surprise by the vehicle but also by what he saw next. After a few seconds on the ground Remington wrapped his head around what just happened and while trying to pick himself up off the ground suddenly realized all the pain and the pool of blood he was laying in. Remington endured the full force of the vehicle to the left side of his body. He suffered open fractures to both bones in his lower leg, a fractured hand, chipped lower vertebrae, and multiple tears of ligaments. With the amount of blood loss and the severity of bone and tissue damage doctors said he was lucky to keep his foot. With prior firefighter training, he knew to use his own belt as a tourniquet to slow the bleeding, if he had not acted so quickly his injury may have been the loss of his leg or even worse his life.

Guardian angels were definitely watching over him given the mere fact that we did not lose him. Thanks to his mother and father, he was raised to be a tough young man and was able to be strong in that moment, however, with these types of injuries comes a long road to recovery. He is struggling with not only the broken bones but also severe nerve and ligament damage. With the help of physical therapy we hope he will be able to regain full movement and sensation in his foot and leg.
Since the date of the accident Remington has undergone 6 surgeries and has been in and out of the hospital with multiple complications. Struggling to get back on his feet and having to learn how to walk on his severely damaged leg he obviously is out of work.
We all know Remington is very passionate about the art, beauty, grit and grime, and all there is to motorcycles and the biker lifestyle. He followed his heart and began working as a technician at Tampa Harley-Davidson and ensures that every other biker has a safe and beautiful bike to ride. Most of you probably won't be surprised coming from Remington, and any bikers reaction would likely be the same, but his first concern was for his bike. After confirming his bike was salvageable his focus turned to his severely damaged leg.
Motorcycle accidents happen everyday and so suddenly. For this to have happened literally a few steps away from his home is beyond tragic. This was not the result of a motorcyclist trying to show off, cut lanes, or speeding rather just a horrible accident no less in an apartment parking lot.
It is very difficult to ask for help and not in Remington's nature, but the medical bills alongside with his every day bills are starting to stack up quickly. Being a new employee for Harley-Davidson he has yet to qualify for health benefits making this an even more difficult situation. We are reaching out to his friends, family, and even the biker community in search of help and support during these hard times. Any donations, kind words, and prayers would be greatly appreciated.
We all want our bikers to come home safely at the end of the day, so please share his story and educate the people that don't ride.
