Baby Declan Memorial
This January, My daughter, Kaylyn and her husband Travis found out they were expecting their first child.
Kaylyn’s pregnancy was going well until the covid shutdown, When all of her prenatal checkups were canceled.
She had been unable to receive all normal tests, checks and scans to detect any problems with the pregnancy.
Last week when she was almost 18 weeks pregnant, her water broke (pProm). She was told to go home, there was nothing that could be done. The baby’s heartbeat is still strong, making it even harder to not try to save this baby.
After researching, we found Out there’s still hope for baby Declan. But The doctors will not make the call to send her to anchorage to continue to preserve the baby until the pregnancy reached a viable age in just a few short weeks.
If she does make it to that milestone, we expect a lengthy hospital stay and maybe even longer stay in the nicu.
We are anticipating many bills to come that won’te covered by insurance. Including non prescribed vitamins, medical supplies such as a shower chair, sanitary items, supplements etc... We even have to find a way to get their sweet dog shipped back to us in Louisiana so they won’t have to try to find care for her while they Are in the hospital.
As of now, their home in Alaska is flooding due to the melting snow but they have been lucky enough to have wonderful friends that are letting them stay in their guest bedroom.
We feel completely helpless And she is so far away from us. With covid we aren’t Even able to travel to be with her. Any help will be so appreciated.
If for some reason the she doesn’t make it or if there are left over funds, we will be giving that money to another mom that’s also going through pProm.
