We are Mercy Hands Europe, a women-led NGO based in Geneva, committed to supporting vulnerable communities affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty in the Middle East and beyond.
This fundraiser supports our critical initiative Safe Haven Syria, a healthcare and protection center based in Qabbasin, North-West Syria, serving rural women and children impacted by war.
Since its launch in late 2024, the center has become a lifeline for hundreds — offering physiotherapy, medical referral, mental health support, and protection services to those who otherwise have no access to care.
But today, the center is at risk of shutting down due to lack of funding — leaving thousands without essential services.
We urgently need your support to keep the doors open.
Our Project Focuses on Two Core Objectives:
- Providing Life-Changing Healthcare
We deliver physiotherapy, medical referral and psychological support to women and children suffering from injuries, trauma, and chronic pain — often caused by years of war or physical labor. Over 2,100 physiotherapy sessions and 1,500 psychological treatments have already been delivered. We now plan to open a new community pharmacy to improve access to essential medicines. Profits from the pharmacy will be reinvested into Safe Haven Syria, particularly to sustain physiotherapy services — one of the most valued by the community. In a third phase, we aim to establish a clinical laboratory to conduct essential medical tests that will strengthen our diagnostic capacity and directly support our physiotherapy and referral services.
- Creating a Safe and Informed Community
We conduct awareness sessions in schools and camps to educate on gender-based violence (GBV), child protection, early marriage, mental health, and legal rights. Over 100 awareness sessions have empowered more than 2,000 people.
Why This Matters:
In Qabbasin, access to healthcare is extremely limited. Hospitals are far, transportation is costly, and most centers that provided similar services have already closed due to funding cuts.
Without Safe Haven Syria, over 250 women and children every month will lose access to free, high-quality, gender-sensitive care.
We have the team, the equipment, and the trust of the community.
What we don’t have — is the funding to continue.
Your donation directly helps:
Keep our medical and mental health staff on the ground
Provide free treatment and counseling to vulnerable women and children
Continue community education to break cycles of violence and neglect
Help us keep Safe Haven Syria alive — and give rural Syrian families a chance to heal, grow, and reclaim their future.
