Two weeks ago, our beloved dog Toffee underwent a routine neuter surgery and was on the path to recovery. Today, tragedy struck.
While visiting a friend’s condo, Toffee was startled—possibly by a passerby—and slipped out with his leash at the building entrance. In a panic, he bolted in the opposite direction and ran straight into the road. Within seconds, he was hit by a car.
Toffee’s injuries are catastrophic. His hind leg suffered massive trauma: the entire skin over the area was peeled away, leaving muscle and tendons exposed. The natural joint prominence was destroyed in the accident. Although there is no bone fracture, the damage is critical and he is in immense pain. Emergency surgery is urgently needed to reconstruct the leg, protect the exposed tissue, and give him a chance at recovery. Otherwise, the worst is that he will be subject to a life-altering amputation surgery.
Toffee is more than just a pet—he’s family. His gentle nature and resilience have touched everyone who meets him. Watching him suffer like this is heartbreaking, and we’re doing everything we can to give him the best chance at recovery.
Without the pet insurance coverage, we’re asking for your help to cover the cost of his emergency surgery, post-operative care, and rehabilitation, which may up to 15,000 to 18,000 CAD. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to giving Toffee the treatment he needs and deserves.
Please consider supporting Toffee’s recovery and sharing this campaign with others. Your kindness means the world to us—and to him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
