Save Flo! Emily's pug needs an urgent operation!

Donation protected
The vet says Florence the pug needs an operation ASAP to help her breathe because her airway is "the size of a straw". She's now having fits and cramps due to oxygen not circulating properly in her body and gets short of breath when active. At any time she could have another fit and stop breathing so the vital operation is needed urgently. Florence (aka Flo) is an energetic four-year-old pug who loves going on walks with her owner Emily and antagonising the cat.

The operation needed to save Flo is called 'BOAS treatment' and the cost of everything involved is due to be £2500 - the money being raised here is to pay towards that operation at West Yorkshire Veterinary Referrals. Flo will need to stay in the animal clinic after the op so the full cost could go up yet. If the goal is raised then any additional donations will go towards Emily's ongoing pet expenses and anything else needed to improve quality of life with her disability - she's been through a lot.

Flo's owner, Emily, has Crohn's disease which has caused significant health issues and many major operations to happen. Devastating complications with a specific treatment for Crohn's led to further operations including both hips and knees being replaced and a life-changing high-risk operation on her brain/spine/skull. In the last 10 years Emily has spent a total of roughly 2.5 years in hospital with 3 months being in intensive care. She is now registered as disabled and still faces the potential of more dangerous operations in the future.

Florence is a HUGE benefit to Emily's health and wellbeing - they love to go on walks together and Florence is a comical character and great comfort to Emily, helping to keep spirits up. Emily adores Florence and is heartbroken at the thought of losing her, they are inseparable.

Florence the pug had an operation recently to help breathing in her nose, the BOAS treatment needed now is a bigger operation. Pugs are a brachycephalic breed so can have this type of problem. After learning more about pugs as the owner of Flo, Emily has become aware of these problems and would not encourage this type of breeding and now advocates 'pug rescue' if anyone really wants to get a pug dog.

Emily would be extremely grateful for any donations received to help save Florence! She is desperate for Flo's urgent operation to take please asap. Blue Cross are unable to do the operation as it is too big for them. Emily is slightly embarrassed by this fundraiser as she has previously always been financially independent, working full-time despite serious illness for many years until ill-health eventually forced her to stop working in the last couple of years. Emily has always insured her pets in the past and mistakenly thought Flo was also insured - this confusion was due to being hospitalised in a critical condition days after first getting Florence.

If we raise the goal of £2500 Emily will start a social media account for Florence showing how she's getting on in the future, if anyone would be interested in this?

This GoFundMe has been organised for Emily with her help. Emily is the sole beneficiary of this fundraiser.

Please donate and share the link if you can. Florence the pug's life-saving operation is needed urgently and any donations to help save her will be very much appreciated.

Updates will be posted.
