Help us rebuild

We are rebuilding the vision we started in 2016

Saté Kampar was the first South East Asian restaurant in Philadelphia to be nominated for a James Beard Award. We had to shut down our location on East Passyunk Ave in the middle of the pandemic. We were so very sad to leave the space we built from scratch; every inch of which told the story of where we come from and reflected a memory lost in time. Our restaurant was open for 4.5 years, and we enjoyed sharing our food and culture with all of you. We loved every minute of it.

The Philadelphia Community
Since 2016, we have enjoyed creating a space where diversity can come together to eat, a place that means community, a place that adds color to the fabric of Philadelphia, a place where memories are created, times celebrated and moments shared. We started Muhibbah Dinner Series, a charity dinner series to raise funds for non-profit organizations in Philadelphia working with immigrants and refugees.

Feeding the frontline workers and food insecure during the 2020 pandemic, one of the last meals made at Saté Kampar's location on Passyunk Avenue.

We realized how challenging making underrepresented food can be, especially during the pandemic, and in 2021 started a platform called Kampar Kitchen, which brings together diverse, underrepresented food in Philadelphia so it can be easily accessible and noticed. Since 2021, about a dozen chefs have enjoyed sharing their food on the Kampar Kitchen platform as much as our members have enjoyed the array of delicious flavors from all around the world.

Rebuilding
In 2016, the construction of Saté Kampar cost over $300,000 with about $100,000 for property improvement and $200,000 to build the kitchen and dining area.
When we had to close during the pandemic, we lost our entire investment in the space, which we rented. We now need help to rebuild in a space of our own.
We estimate this rebuild will cost around $500,000 and are seeking to crowdfund $250,000

We have secured a location to bring back Saté Kampar and incorporate the Kampar Kitchen platform into our new space!

This fundraiser will help us rebuild in our new location, which we will own.

We want to thank all of you for your support.
