Alexander Busalov Funeral

Alexander Busalov, age 38, of Loveland, Ohio passed away after illness on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at West Chester Hospital.  He was born Friday, February 23, 1979 in Zhodino, Belarus to Mikalai and Hanna (nee Shturma) Busalau.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.  Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM at the Funeral Home. 

Sasha, as he was known to friends and family, came to America with his wife and children in 2010. He will now return to his homeland in Belarus to be with his family.

Alexander is survived by his wife Irina, son Konstatin, daughter Angelina, sister Tatiana, and many other loving family members and friends.

On 28 February 2016, Alexander began to feel pain around the left bottom side of his mid-back area. In a couple of weeks, there was a swelling of a very considerable size all over his left side of the back and neck, as well as his left shoulder, arm, and hand were visibly swollen. By that time, he was in a lot of pain, and could barely move his torso.

On May 1 he was admitted to Mercy Anderson Hospital, where he spent 10 days. Doctors diagnosed him with an aggressively spreading form of melanoma cancer.

In a week after he was out of the hospital, he was able to get a prescription for radiation therapy. On May 11, while on the way to his second session of radiation therapy treatment, Alexander began to suffocate. He was taken to the emergency room of the University of Cincinnati, and later transferred to UC Medical Center, where he spent two weeks.

They found that he had water in his lungs and in his internal organs, which had to be pumped out every two days through a specially inserted catheter.   Alexander had to begin using an oxygen tank, which he does to this day.  

While at UC Medical Center, they administered a full course of radiation therapy.   After that treatment, the swelling began to subside, and is now about 60% the size it used to be.   Through this battle, Alexander lost a lot of body weight.  He is still in a lot of pain.

At this point, he is resting at home. His parents and his wife's mother flew in from overseas to be with him during this extremely trying time.  Which means that not only they don't have income from their jobs, but they need Alexander's help to pay for their living expenses.  They help him out around the clock, since that's the kind of care that's needed right now.

Alexander has been unemployed since March.  He had to shut down his business.  Right now he, his wife Irina, his teenage daughter Angelina, and his 11-year old son Konstantin don't have any source of income.  Alexander is planning to move to a smaller and cheaper apartment very soon to help contain the costs.

Alexander is uninsured.  He applied for a program which will pay for his hospital stays, and for his radiotherapy and immunotherapy treatments.  The good news is that he was approved for it!  As far as medical expenses, Alexander will need to pay out of pocket for prescriptions medications such as painkillers, as well as part of the cost for oxygen equipment rental.  We are updating the fundraising goal to reflect that.

No one could have predicted that this man would face such an aggressive medical battle, being only 38 years of age. He wants nothing more than to beat the cancer, and enjoy many dozens of years with his family and friends.

Alexander is not the kind of man to give up easily.  A believer in Christ, he thanks God every day for every bit of progress he is making, as well as for his friends and family.  If you were to stop by and visit him, you would leave his apartment believing the world is a better place for people like Alexander - kind, patient, believing, hopeful, and loving.  Many of us who stop by to encourage him end up being encouraged ourselves.
   
If you know Alexander, (and even if you don't but are just reading this) - if you can contribute what you can toward helping him with this ordeal - every dollar of your money will go toward helping this man stay alive, and helping him and his family stay fed and housed.
