Hello friends,
My name is Linda Baker, and I am Suzanne Foucachon Sarran's aunt.
Alex and Suzanne and their six children live in Lyon, France where Alex is the pastor of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Lyon. (http://www.erelyon.org) They seek to glorify God through communicating the Gospel message to as many people as possible. They pray that many would come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, and as a result, this church plant would grow and other churches would be established. Alex and Suzanne seek for the church to be a positive, visible impact on the second largest urban area in France.
Alex and Suzanne are here in the U.S. for several months to visit churches and individuals to raise support that they are lacking to continue their church plant mission in Lyon. They have traveled from Idaho to Alabama and up the east coast to Quebec and were heading west back to Idaho. (Suzanne's parents, Francis and Donna Foucachon, live in Moscow, ID. )
As you are aware, Alex, Suzanne and their six children survived a terrible car accident a few days ago near Hardin, Montana on their way to Moscow, Idaho. A patch of black ice and a strong gust of wind sent the car out of control and rolling over twice. By the grace of God, good seatbelts and carseats, no one was seriously injured. Yes, there are stiff muscles and cuts and bruises, but everyone is fine. Can you imagine that happening to you with the car full of your precious family?
The car was totaled, luggage destroyed and belongings strewn all over the field where they landed. Since the car was full of children, most of the luggage was in a rooftop carrier and a rear carrier.
Since the car was off the road in a field (see pictures), AAA kept the Sarrans waiting (on the phone) while they decided whether or not they would tow the car. The family took refuge in other cars and in an ambulance while they waited for an answer. (They did not hear a "yes" from AAA until much later in the evening after some very direct words from Alex.) Good Samaritains stopped to help them gather their possessions that had been thrown from the carriers and suitcases. These gracious people took some of the "stuff" and deposited it at a hotel in Billings for the Sarrans to pick up later. An ambulance arrived and took them to a motel in Hardin for the night....literally with only the clothes on their backs. We can only imagine the state of shock and exhaustion for all of them. By the next afternoon the Lord provided someone who came from Billings to pick them up and take them to the hotel there. And then the Lord provided someone who lent them an old Ford Excursion to drive to Moscow. So, they will be home for Christmas!
The video below is a time lapse of Alex packing the car just before they left on their journey that morning. The other photos show the car after the accident.
The help and compassion shown to the Sarrans by friends of friends of friends and five different churches in Billings has been a wonderful demonstration of the Church at work.
BUT...they have no car, no luggage and some other items, and a few medical bills.
This GOFUNDME is to raise $8,500 for Alex and Suzanne to buy a car and take care of other needs.
As Believers in a God who is sovereign, we know that he is over all that happens in our lives. The trauma of this event will slowly fade from their memories. But Alex and Suzanne have immediate financial needs now. We, as a community of people who love the Lord and as their brothers and sisters in Christ, are equipped to help them. Whether you can give a gift of $10 or $1,000, you can make a difference.
