Our sweet dog Sarge recently underwent emergency surgery that saved his life. Without it, he wouldn’t be here with us today. He was diagnosed with a ruptured gallbladder mucocele that required emergency surgery, and they gave him a 40-50% chance to survive the surgery. The surgeon called following the procedure and let us know that he survived surgery, but that it was a really tough surgery as the bile from the gallbladder had gotten all over his organs, causing a lot of problems. His blood pressure and his heart rate dropped multiple times during surgery, and they let us know that he only had a 50% chance to survive the next 3 days. As you all know, Sarge is a WARRIOR, and he fought his ass off. He stayed in the ICU for 4 days, and when we picked him up, all of the doctors were telling us they couldn't believe how well Sarge recovered and that he did better than 90% of dogs in his situation.
Over the past two years, Sarge has battled more than most dogs (or humans) ever will. He had spinal surgery in August of 2023, was diagnosed with autoimmune disease (meningitis) in December of 2023, and has endured multiple week-long hospital stays over the past two years. He has undergone spinal taps, brain taps, joint taps, multiple MRIs, physical therapy, water therapy, acupuncture, PEMF therapy, etc. Through it all, he’s remained the loving, strong, and loyal pup we call family. We've spent over $50,000 on his medical care in the past two years, and unfortunately, we know there's more to come. We are doing everything in our power to give him the best chance at a long, happy, healthy life. Sarge is our baby, and we would move mountains for him. We are SO SO SO thankful he's so resilient, and he's happy as can be back home with his mommas! Any support, whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply sending positive vibes our way, means the world to us as we continue this journey with our little fighter.
