Sareana’s Education Fund
My name is Sareana Kimia. I am a home-schooled junior in high school from Silver Spring, Maryland. I am also concurrently enrolled at the university.
I serve as Student Member on the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC), which is the governing body of the Democratic Party in Montgomery County, MD. I also serve as the Maryland Deputy Director of Youth Outreach on the Democratic National Committee Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Caucus, and am a Commissioner for the Montgomery County Commission on Children & Youth. I am the Founder and President/CEO of a national, youth, nonpartisan advocacy organization, Youth for National Change (YNC), where I advocate for youth interests and represent their voices at the local, state, and national levels of government.
Recently, I have been going through some hardships. I am an only child to a single mother, who recently suffered from a nervous breakdown. Consequently, my mother lost her job and we ended-up losing our home. I am now homeless. On top of going to school, I have worked part-time as a law clerk at a law firm to earn some income. The income helped cover bare necessities for a short while. We have no family to help, but have relied on the support of a handful of friends.
However, with an increase in school work, I am unable to maintain a job. The cost of my school cannot be covered by my mom right now because she is rebuilding herself and trying to get on her feet.
I love to learn and have performed well as a student. My current cumulative GPA is 3.93 (unweighted). Most of the classes I am taking right now are Advanced Placement (AP). I speak French, Spanish, and English fluently, and know basic to intermediate Chinese and Hindi. In the future, I hope to do a dual undergraduate degree in Political Science and Information Systems. After that, I hope to attend Law School to study Civil Rights Law. I look forward to advocating for individuals who were not treated equally and help bringing justice to them.
So, I need your help. I need money to attend school in order to continue furthering my education, and reach my goals & aspirations.
Thank you for your consideration.
