Help Sarah pay for gender confirmation surgery

Hi, my name is Sarah. For those of you who don't know me, I'm a 28 year old trans woman living in Australia. I've been lucky to have my family and friends support me in my transition for the 3 years since I have come out, but I am still suffering from intense genital dysphoria, which causes me significant distress in my day to day life. It is a medical issue which is treated with gender confirmation surgery - the surgical alteration of one's genitals to match their gender identity. Australia has some of the best health care cover in the world, but there's a giant hole in the coverage - despite the need for a psychiatrist's letter affirming that the surgery is required, gender confirmation surgery is defined by the government as "cosmetic" and as such cannot be covered by either medicare or private insurance. As such the procedure needs to be paid for up front and out of pocket, at an approximate cost of AUD$15,000. The money you donate will be used to cover important parts of the procedure such as - Referrals to and consultations with the surgeon - Providing any additional psychiatric letters the surgeon requires above what I already have - Electrolysis treatments to remove hair from the area to be altered - Cost of the procedure itself, as well as a separate fee for the anaesthestist - Cost of any needed followup appointments I have not yet booked a surgery date as currently I have no pathway to affording it, but as my dysphoria is so bad that it keeps me awake at night, I am desperate to do so as soon as possible.
