Hi I'm Sarah Siddiqui. I'm an established Singer Songwriter from Toronto, Canada. My style falls in between Alternative-Folk-Ethereal. The goal is to start recording the album this September so your support is needed now.
Before reading the snapshot below of my career highlights I'm starting with a personal note. My biggest achievement is surviving mental health. It's been over a 3 decade journey of battling this, many bouts of which were quite severe. My diagnosis is not the main point though. The point is that I didn't think I'd be here and functioning so well. There were several times in my life where the reality of getting out of bed was a huge accomplishment. I have experienced many traumatic events growing up and into adulthood. Music is what helps me to express as I have so much I need to say through beauty, through music.
I have been playing original songs since the age of 15, 1995 in Toronto. My discography spans from 1998, and is available on all platforms. I was a recipient of Toronto Arts Council Album Recording Grant, 2015. In 2019 I was announced as Indie Week 2x "Artist of the Day", and "Best Discovery" by Folk Music Ontario in 2019. In addition I am a Full Member of ACTRA, the Canadian Actor's Union of which I became a part of after getting a song place in 2 feature films, a co-write "Strayed" in films "Word of Honor" (2003) starring Don Johnson, Jeanne Tripplehorn, "Triggemen" (2001) Directed by Donnie Wahlberg. In 1997 I had an Artist Development/Publishing Agreement with EMI Canada. My biggest moment was getting cast by Danny Devito for "Guitarist Role" for film "Death To Smoochy" (2002) starring Robin Williams, Edward Norton and Danny DeVito (CBC Studios). My other biggest moment was in 2013, opening up for the Annual NYC Songwriters Series at the iconic Bitter End venue, where Billy Joel was in attendance.
Donald Quan who is set to produce my next album:
"Donald Quan is an award-winning film composer, producer, and chef, with a catalogue of over 3000 song cues registered with SOCAN. After dealing with extremities, he has nurtured himself back up to health and is now continuing his life on an adventure as a new indie record label, 'Edam Squid' , which provides artists with fairness, learning of self-managing, and protection of content...." Donald Quan was a member of Loreena McKennitt's touring band for 10 years. He also assisted in the production of 2 of her albums. He has has his own vast discography of compositions and more. he has also been a musical director and arranger for a number of established bands, musicians, singer-songwriters on tour and in studio. Donald plays viola, piano, and tabla. To learn more: https://www.donaldquan.com/
This next album will expand deeper into the ethereal and haunting characteristics of my songs, in keeping with the alternative, folk sounds. With Donald's film score background married with his vast production experience in various genres including folk, alternative, rock, and instrumentals, this will further enhance the intimacy and emotional vulnerability of the songs. The instrumentation of the album will include piano, viola, cello, electric and acoustic guitar, and whatever else is needed to capture the essence of the songs.
The album will be recorded at Kuhl Muzik, Toronto. https://www.kuhlmuzik.com/
