Intentional Hit & Run MC Accident

Until death do us part is what we said when we were married almost seven years ago and unfortunately that almost came true much sooner than we ever thought imaginable. A few weeks ago my husband was enjoying a day out on his motorcycle. He had been cramped up in his tractor trailer for two weeks straight and was enjoying the fresh air and freedom for a change. When he decided to head for home he realized there was a suspicious vehicle following him and despite his best efforts to get to a safe place he was run down before that could happen. Luckily, another motorcycle rider came along and called for help. His extensive injuries earned him a medflight ride to a level one trauma hospital almost two hours from our house (only 22 miles by helicopter from the scene according to their bill). He was in the ICU for ten days and another four days in a step down, critical care unit before his stubborn self convinced the hospital to let him go home despite his injuries still healing and his temporary tracheotomy. So now he has a visiting nurse and will soon start physical and occupational therapies while he continues to heal and schedule many follow up appointments and procedures.
Those of you who know us well know that we have been through a whole lot during our marriage which has placed big, financial burdens on us. We were once again beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel and now we have been hit with more financial burdens. The medical bills have only just begun to hit our insurance so we are not quite sure where all of this will land or even just how much continuing care my husband will require, but we know our insurance deductible is $4,000 and our out of pocket maximum is $10,000 before resetting on January 1st.
Our jobs have been very understanding and we are very grateful for that. Rich is waiting to see what type of state disability he might qualify for and I am quickly running out of time off as I had only started a new job just a few weeks before the accident. Out of the horrible situation that this is, we have been very blessed with many positives. We have been offered various help by friends and family and as foreign as that usually is for us we have accepted. We are always the type to want to help others when we can, but as many of us out there are, we don’t ever expect to ask for help for ourselves. But this is bigger than the two of us. My husband is dealing with so much physically and mentally. I am dealing with life best just moment by moment. So we are putting this out there to friends, family and the internet world to ask for financial help. We don't know what else to say, but thank you!
