Dear Friends,
It is with a sad heart that I tell you Sandy Peters, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on St. Patrick's Day 2016.
After a 3 year remission for primary central nervous system lymphoma, her cancer reoccured and she was admitted to the U of F Cancer Center in Orlando on President's Day, 15 February 2016. She underwent her first round of chemo and was discharged to a rehab center to await her second round; however, on her first day in rehab she broke her hip, and that effectively ended her ability to undergo more chemo and continue the fight. Her doctor discharged her to Cornerstone Hospice at ORMC where she passed.
Many of you also know my father, Pete; they were a perfect pair and never far from each others side. Dad and I were able to be by her side everyday, and many friends were able to visit with her in hospice.
Although we'd prayed for a miracle--for her to come home with us where she belonged--she went home to God to be our Guardian Angel. We were there holding her hand, telling her how much she was loved until she drifted away. Her passing was peaceful.
Her light was bright and will continue to shine. Those who knew her understood that she was the "grand coordinator of all things." We figure God needed a fabulous coordinator, which is why he took her. If we learned anything from her life, it was to always be happy, optimistic and giving. Because she always placed those in her personal and work life ahead of herself, my dad and I decided to donate her body to the University of Central Florida where she will continue to give and help others learn.
Becuase of her condition, she was unable to keep her employer's life insurance; yet becuase of her condition, she did not qualify for private insurance...the cost was too prohibitive.
The goal of this memorial account is to help my dad, her husband Pete, offset expenses from her passing.
Thank you to all who've reached out to us during this time; your thoughts, prayers and love are truly appreciated. Applogies to those who were unable to visit with her prior to her passing, but she clearly tried to entertain her visitors and put their wellbeing before hers, but the family felt it was just too exhausting for her.
Again, thank you for your support, prayers and love...
Sincerely,
Sheri Peters (Sandy's daughter)
