Sandy's Breast Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Hello everyone!   For those of you who have not heard, Sandy has recently been diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (stage 3 breast cancer).    On Friday, May 12, she had a mammogram which led to an immediate biopsy.   She met with an Oncologist today and things are going to move quickly.  A PET scan is being scheduled now (a whole body scan to make sure it hasn't spread anywhere else).  Once the results from that scan are back, she will have a port surgically inserted to begin chemotherapy.  The plan is to do 5 months of chemo, then a double mastectomy, followed up with radiation treatments.  The doctors she met with today were very positive that she will overcome this successfully!

Currently, the obstacle standing in the way is money.  She has medical insurance but will still need help!  She needs help IMMEDIATELY to pay deductibles ($10,000) so the treatments can start ASAP.  She is also going to need help with monthly living expenses when she is off work and the huge amount of prescriptions, along with any other tests the doctors feel needed along the way.  Sandy is very positive and doesn't plan to take off much work but with unknown reactions that come with chemo she may be out of work more than she plans.  After the mastectomy surgery, she will be required to take off a few weeks to months of work and then again with the unknown reactions with radiation treatments.   She does have medical insurance but she does not have any short or long term insurance and will not have any income when she's off work.

For those that do not know me, my name is Stacy.  I was Sandy's roommate in college and we have remained BFF's ever since (some people even think we're sisters when we go places).  I live in Missouri and she is in Arizona so this is the easiest way for me to help from afar.

It's been quite a years of highs and low for Sandy and it's only June!  She found a new job in which she loves and provides a great service to young women (YAY!).   She got engaged to Dave Gerig (YAY!) right before her 40th birthday (40 is the new 20...) and all before the breast cancer diagnosis (BOO!).

Any way you can help will be greatly appreciated!  She needs money as quickly as possible for the deductibles so she does not have to wait any longer for treatments to start.  She and Dave need lots of prayers for strength!  They have a long road ahead of them but they are both very strong, determined, and positive people.  So please help in any way you can and add them to every prayer list you know of.

Thank you in advance and I will continue to update this page each step of her journey so you can see her strength and how she will overcome this bump in the road just like any she has faced before!
