Since its founding, DBD has saved thousands of dogs and more than a few cats that would have otherwise been euthanized or died alone on the streets. While things may look perfect from the outsider’s perspective, the shelter and it’s amazing founder have struggled. A little less than a year ago, Rick was killed in a motorcycle accident, and shortly after DBD was forced to leave their facility. While a generous boarding facility stepped up to the plate and allowed them to move in, things were beyond tough! The new facility is in the country, so less adopters stopped by, some volunteers left, Debin was forced to find extra work to cover the loss of income, and sadly there was less space for the dogs that needed help! They went from an average of 80 dogs in care to approximately 35.
As an answer to the issues that lay ahead Debin has come up with a plan. A plan for the hard to place dogs, the "lifers", and the returns that may not be able to be placed again. A SANCTUARY! This facility will be in the country, surrounded by acreage where these “hopeless” dogs can live out their days in luxury and love! This facility will also house calm birthing centers for tossed aside pregnant dogs to whelp and raise their puppies in peace before they go up for adoption!
The dream of Dogs by Debin would never have been possible five years ago without the love and support of Rick Norris, and now to honor him let’s step up to the plate and make the dream of the DBD Norris Sanctuary a reality!! This dream isn’t possible without you!!
