Sammie’s medication and treatment for FLUTD and OU
Donation protected
Hello, thank you so much for taking your time to read and interact with this post ❤️
We are desperate to help our young sick cat Sammie, who has been diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) , specifically Urethral obstruction. Financially we are not in the position to take on the full extent of these medical bills and treatments as we are full time students and just trying to make ends meet.
Sammie is only a year and two months old, he is well loved and cared for and is usually full of life and exuberance. He is a major part of our household and we hate to see him in any pain.
We took him in as a stray in a carpark when he was only a kitten and he has been under our care ever since.
We want to be able to properly treat this disease if the bacteria is highly resistant and he continuously relapses. His quality of life can deplete rapidly, in some cases of cats with this chronic disease owners have had to euthanize their furry companions.
Every 12 hours the price of Sammie being under the vet's care and supervision increases by $900 The highest estimated cost would be over $5,200. Which can double if we can't afford to help in the events of the disease returning.
We have taken preventative measures that help ease the pain or prevent this disease such as changing his litter and giving him plenty of water and he has a healthy diet. The disease is more common in male cats and it is encouraged to seek medical attention once noticed which we did immediately. Left untreated the (FLUTD) can cause cardiac arrest within 24-48 hours. To avoid relapse in the future we need to put him on medication.
If anyone can help us, even just by sharing the post that would mean so much to us, we love him so dearly, it hurts to see a member of our little family in pain. If you own or are close to an animal I'm sure you are very aware how stressful these situations can be and how out of control it makes you feel.
