Our rescue, Salty Dog Rescue, is a new rescue in Brevard County, FL. Although our county's shelter is considered to be "no kill", we became aware of the shelter crisis across the state of Florida.

In 2024, over 150,000 dogs were brought into shelters in Florida as strays or owner relinquishments. Over one out of every ten of those dogs was euthanized or died in the shelter. This is completely unacceptable.

Most of the counties with the highest euthanasia rates are near Brevard in the middle of the state, allowing us the unique opportunity to pull dogs from high risk areas to a low risk county.

In addition, our own shelter in Brevard continues to operate at or near capacity, forcing dogs to be kept in kennels outside in the heat of the summer.

We are asking for $1,500 to help cover our medical costs. Medical bills add up when you are helping the most vulnerable, and we appreciate any support (big or small) that you can give!
