This gofundme is to benefit Salmon Lake Park.
On June 1st, 2021 Salmon Lake Park experienced a great deal of damage from the continuous and hazardous weather, which caused its dam to break. Unfortunately, the damage that has happened, is NOT covered by insurance.
All funds raised will go directly to Salmon Lake Park and used to help rebuild and replace all that was damaged. So many childhood memories, family reunions, festivals, car shows, and events have been made and held at Salmon Lake Park, please help bring it back to its former glory!
In a time where there are so many larger causes, we know the park might not be top of the list to assist, but this place means a lot to a lot of people and we were hoping a lot of people can help bring it back to life.
Salmon Lake Park has helped the community out in so many ways and now is our chance to help them!

"As many of you already know Grapeland Tx received over 10 inches of rain in a short amount of time. Causing damage to many homes and roads including Salmon Lake Park.
Tent Owens, David & Josiah Powers worked hard in the early morning hrs and rain trying to create more flow in the overflow, but around 5 am the water dam broke.
Water is a powerful force! It destroyed the water wheel and mill, Lemon shine, and the bridge. They were all washed up against and under the stage. The stage has received some damage but we are unable to determine the extent of it at this point.
We are creating a plan of action to make the necessary repairs. For the next few days, we’ve decided to close the park to the non-resident guest. We will be reaching out again soon with ways you can help, but for now, we will appreciate everyone’s prayers

"Our emergency fund was small but we knew we should have one since we were facing the slowest time of the year. We were glad we did. The cancellations due to the two winter freezes, the massive water line damage throughout the entire park, the fire of a full yet uninsured storage building, rebuilding the concession stand and park store along with countless other upgrades and updates required in the park has depleted the original emergency fund a few times over. Not gonna lie- it was tough. And even in those tough times, we hosted many nonprofit organizations overnight for significantly reduced rates and in some cases for free. There were days that we wondered how we would get through it. But we knew we had the “busy season” coming. I cannot describe the feelings and thoughts that went through our heads as we sat in the wee hours of the morning when the light of day was still making its way to the horizon, watching the “busy season” get swept down the stream. But by the grace of God, as the sun began to shine over the damage, we found hope. Hundreds of people who love this place saw there was a great need and asked for ways to help. So yes, we are going to take our community up on their offers and accept all forms of help. Financial assistance, sweat equity, prayers, and, as soon as we get the “busy season” back on track by fixing the dam- the support found in sharing the park as people come here to reminisce, relax and enjoy their time with family and friends. Once we get to the other side of this, we can’t wait to be able to give back to the community 10 fold." -Bethany Owens
