Thank you for checking out my page!
I had long been reluctant to start a GoFundMe, but with positive encouragement from friends and acquaintances I decided to make this happen. I’m reaching out for help right now due to two separate emergencies that I’ll share below.
A few weeks ago, two major tendons in my leg tore unexpectedly and rendered me disabled. I learned this could take up to a year to heal fully. My leg and foot are immobilized. I am currently in Physical Therapy waiting on surgical decisions. I am also seeking a specialized treatment for healing tendons I cannot afford out of pocket .
Triggered by these, are existing spinal and joint injuries after being hit by a reckless driver on my bike a few years ago, and a nervous system condition that creates pain and nausea daily. I try to remain as active and positive as possible regardless.
Just prior to my leg injury, my car's steering system began failing and leaking heavily. It is not repairable and needs replaced asap ( that’s extremely expensive) according to two experienced mechanics. To drive, it needs to be refilled abt every three days currently.
She is a 20+ year old European car that needs other basic updates to keep running. Otherwise it has to be junked.
My car has been very reliable the past 5+ years especially in the northern climate and terrain; I am grateful for that and just to have one.
This circumstance is pretty overwhelming, especially with no income currently. I live in a rural region where places are far apart and can be difficult to get to, so this is imminent. I rely on the car daily and desperately need transportation for my recovery and life here in general.
At this point, I am asking for donations towards a well-running used AWD or 4x4 vehicle, gas, and basic essentials to help get me through the fall, winter, and spring while I recover. It's getting colder out now and I just don’t have what I need.
A little bit about me: I’m a young man in my 50s, educated, funny, kind, and compassionate person. I enjoy keeping healthy and active, especially love being outdoors in nature.
Some of my vocations and work have been: First Responder and Rescue Instructor, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Ambassador, and Natural Foods worker over the years. My work wages were not often enough to live off of with much quality of life. That said, the work was gratifying in many other ways.
I enjoy contributing somehow to the communities where I live, making music, people feel good, food security, and other health and agricultural efforts when able. I’ve done work with conservation, organic farming, and preservation as well.
After my last job ended, I had not been hired anywhere I applied. I was trying to get my footing and stable housing since my last rent doubled and prices jumped. I had been meeting with a disability hiring agency for many months. After my car and tendon injury, they disclosed they could not assist until my circumstances improved and stabilized.
And as I write this, I have no savings and hold significant debt. I aim to turn that around and actualize my dream of building a farmstead in the near future!
For now, my target is getting reliable transportation and basic expenses covered during this emergency while I heal up. This will help me be more eligible for employment once I’m recovered, and stabilize housing.
I'd be so grateful for any amount you could contribute; It could give me a critical leg up on the road ahead!
Thank you for reading through
Warmly,
Sal :)
