Hello family, friends, and dance community!
My name is Sage Sarai and I am a 20-year-old graduating senior at New York University with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Russian Studies.
I've finally made it! Graduation is just a week away for the Class of 2023. My experience has been so amazing and I am forever grateful to my friends, teachers, mentors, and supporters for helping make it so fulfilling. As I embark on my new journey as a professional artist, I am in need of your support and compassion. First, I am attempting to raise funds in order to satisfy my financial obligations to NYU so that I can participate in graduation ceremonies and receive my degree. I have applied for scholarships and grants to assist me, however, most award decisions won't be made before my graduation date.
I also recently accepted my first professional dance position in another state and have been notified that I'll have to relocate just two weeks after my graduation date to begin training. This is exciting, but daunting news because I have to find somewhere to live and transport my belongings which also requires access to finances that I don't have.
I am a low-income student, and I have financially supported myself by freelancing, working in restaurants and bars as a hostess, and support from my scholarship committee at NYU. Although I've saved what I could over the years, I still have an unmet financial obligation for my degree and moving is nonetheless a financial challenge. This money will be put directly towards transportation to the new state, paying off my bill for my degree, and a deposit and first month's rent on an apartment. I know that this is an incredibly challenging time for everyone, and there are many worthy causes deserving of our spare change - I'd be truly humbled and infinitely grateful if you saw fit to help me as I chase my dreams. Thank you so much for your continued support!
