Wrestling at St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul has been a staple and resource for the poor and homeless in Louisville since 1853. In addition to the many residents and community members served by their campus in Smoketown/Shelby Park, SVdP has services and programs through the entire Louisville Metro.
The Family Success Center was completed in 2014 and serves as a fantastic facility on SVdP'sCampus. Programming for the SVdP community is aimed at breaking the cycle of generational povety through programming for both children and parents.
Recently, SVdP has been approached by those in the local wrestling community to establish a club league for the resident children and surrounding community. This expanded programming opportunity will directly benefit the youth that live on the SVdP campus. We are in need of immediate funding to acquire the equipment needed to successfully launch this new program! The primary need is for a wrestling mat that will provide a safe environemnt for practice. This mat will also be multi-purpose in the future and be able to support a variety of potential new programs at the Family Success Center.
Wrestling in particular can be extremely beneficial for youth. The sport promotes discipline, prepares youth in how to effectively deal with adversity, and of course is great physical exercise!
