Support Pearwa's Fight for Recovery

Dear Friends and Kind Hearts,

On December 29, 2024, a tragic car accident forever changed the life of 23-year-old Pearwa Rakpanya. While traveling with family on a long 10-hour drive from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, the vehicle Pearwa was a passenger in, fell into a ditch and hit a tree. The accident claimed the life of one passenger in the hospital and Pearwa remains in the ICU, fighting for her life.

This devastating accident occurred while myself and immediate family were visiting Chiang Mai, Thailand, from Boston for a big family reunion. We had gathered to celebrate a wedding and a birthday, and the trip was meant to be filled with joy and cherished memories. Pearwa and others in the car were driving back to Bangkok after making the long journey to Chiang Mai for the reunion.

Pearwa was asleep during the accident and is still yet to wake up/regain consciousness. She suffered devastating injuries, including multiple skull fractures, brain bleeding, broken ribs, and a dislocated hips. She also lost a significant amount of blood. Pearwa is currently receiving care from some of the best brain surgeons in Northern Thailand at Lampang Hospital.

Everyone who visits her can see her incredible strength and determination, even in this critical state. Pearwa has always been a fighter. At just 23 years old, she has already completed her master’s degree in journalism and recently started an exciting new job in Bangkok. She is full of potential, and her family is desperately waiting for her to come back to them.
