We appreciate that you have clicked on the link to come to this page and that you are now reading this letter. It means the world to us that you would spend your time on us. Allow us to introduce ourselves, just in case you don't know who we are. We (Justin, Joshua, Gaylon & Riley) are together known as Shattered Silence . We are an Alternative Rock band from Angleton, Texas and we are taking a leap of faith by planning our first tour across the west coast as a band. Scary? Yes. Worth it? It will be! But, we cannot do this without YOU, our loyal friends, families and supporters. We don't consider you fans. We consider you friends and family.
Honestly, we really don't like asking for money and we want you to know that we have been very productive in raising funds during the summer while at the same time, playing shows, traveling, working our day jobs and paying bills to stay alive. We have fundraised quite a bit of money this summer by hosting car washes, bake sales and garage sales. Not to mention, the shows that we've played and the merchandise we have sold has all gone towards our tour as well. We are just still short on funds, unfortunately.
Here is a little information about the tour...We are planning to visit and play in the following cities and states:
Texas (Of course - HA! - but to clarify...Lake Jackson, Brenham, Austin, San Antonio, DFW & Midland)
Albuquerque, NM
Phoenix, AZ
Los Angeles, CA
Quincy, CA
Portland, OR
Seattle, WA
Spokane, WA
Boise, ID
Salt Lake City, UT
Denver, CO
Kansas, MO
Wichita, KS
Owasso, OK
The cities that have already been booked are: Lake Jackson, Brenhan, Iowa Park, Albuquerque, Los Angeles, Quincy, Salt Lake City, Wichita and Owasso.
So, you can imagine how busy we all have been to book these shows while at the same time, juggling all the other things we mentioned before. It surely is a full-time job in itself, but we LOVE it, and we can't wait to make new friends on the road. Yes, we still have more work to do, and some cities are still pending, but we believe that this tour will be amazing!
So, now to the nitty, gritty stuff. What we are needing: $5,000. Most of this is going to go towards gas, since we drive an old '97 Ford E-350 with a 5.4L engine (it's thirsty all the time). Without a trailer and a back full of gear, we get about 10.5 MPG. On tour, we'll have a trailer, so you can imagine what that will do to our gas mileage. Not to mention, driving through the mountains in the Northwest part of the country. Also, these funds will go towards food in our bellies and lodging IF needed. We have a lot of connections on the road so far and we are hoping that we don't have to spend much on hotels while on the road. Another portion of these funds will go towards Joshua, Gaylon and Riley's bills while being gone. They will be sacrificing their income to be on the road for very little pay or none at all and need to pay their bills while gone, so that they can return to their cars and homes. Another part of this money raised will go to our "Emergency Fund". This is if things get nasty on the road (flat tires, blow-outs, engine or transmission damage, etc). We pray that none of these things happen, but let's face it. From time to time, they do and we want to be prepared. Even if we need to rent something to get us through the rest of the tour. Oh yeah! We can't forget about instrument repair and maintenance (guitar strings, drum heads, sticks, guitar picks, etc). These are all things that we will need to keep playing and stay alive on tour.
