Bring Back SNHU Club Hockey

The Southern New Hampshire University Club Hockey Team is a unique program here at SNHU. We were created a few years back as a means to give students who missed their chance to play at the NCAA level, an opportunity to play four more years of hockey. The program began six years ago with the hope of finding enough players to have a couple of practices and a couple of games throughout the year. But, fast forward to this past 2016-2017 season, we had 50+ people trying out for the team, we had a 29 game season, and we had 3-4 practices a week. Not to mention our 3rd straight year making playoffs. This team has accomplished so many things in such a short amount of time.
When it comes to our financial situation, everyone knows that hockey is a very expensive sport. Things like paying for ice time, uniforms, league fees, referees and transportation, make for an unbelievably expensive season. Due to these expenses a huge financial burden has been placed on us.
Although our club is financially  supported like any other SNHU sport club, ice hockey is a very expensive sport and it requires more expenses in equipment and rentals. Due to those expenses, we are semi-self-funded, by paying "player dues". These dues put another burden on the players. Unless we make up the deficit we have encountered from our 2016-2017 season, we will not be able to have a team or a season this year. That means all of our accomplishments, such as becoming members of the ACHA and NECHA leagues, will be lost. We will lose the opportunity to qualify for playoffs and regionals and most importantly, we will not be able to play hockey.
All that we ask is that if you would like to see the SNHU Club Hockey Team have another season and succeed as a team, please show your support. All proceeds will go directly to the SNHU Club Hockey account at our university to ensure that all funds are being used to best benefit the team.
