San Leandro retired K-9 Rohan medical emergency
K-9 Rohan (ret.) had to undergo emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage. The costs of the surgery so far are $4,200.00. We are hoping some of our K-9 and LEO friends can help our Officer Mally's family cover the expenses.
K-9 Rohan is an nine year old Belgian Malinois who was originally from Long Beach, CA. He started his police K-9 career in December 2012, where he was certified in suspect apprehension, narcotics detection, article detection, and was an entry dog for the SLPD SWAT Team. Throughout his career, K-9 Rohan conducted close to a thousand deployments in a patrol/SWAT capacity. K-9 Rohan had the privilege of working with the US Marshals Service and FBI/ATF Task Force where he not only helped catch bad guys, but helped locate and seize important evidence including narcotics and money. K-9 Rohan served seven years with the San Leandro Police Department and retired on his birthday in September of 2019.
Rohan currently lives at home with his handler, Officer Mally. Rohan is still adjusting to the retired life, but he seems to be enjoying it immensely. He spends his days sunbathing in the backyard and chasing squirrels along the fence, and spends the evenings laying low with his family.

Rohan experienced a medical emergency during Presidents’ Day weekend and underwent emergency surgery in the early hours of 2/15/2021. He had an intestinal blockage requiring immediate intervention. The surgery was complicated and there is some uncertainty on the health of his large intestine after the trauma.
Rohan has put in his time and should be enjoying his retirement. He loves camping and hanging out around his family wherever they go.
Please help our friends cover some of the costs of this expense. Rohan's family include his handler Officer Mally, his wife and their four children. Rohan is also a big brother to his K-9 sibling Kalea, a French bulldog.
