Holiday Helpers

Silver Hills is Title 1 School with a diverse population. We provide Stormy's Closet and help to families throughout the year. During the holiday, with students out of school for so long, we strive to make our newcomers and those struggling have a brighter holiday break. We provide gifts specific to our 6-8th graders from donations from Precious Child and other generous donors. We as a school run the fundraiser to provide resources for meals, household items, and daily hygiene needs. Donations can be made here or via venmo @Katie-Wolver. Last year we raised $900 in outside donations that got many of our families through a rough time, families and students are so appreciative of your donation. We will run a coin drive within the school so that students learn a sense of giving back, but it does not work well to ask those who need the help, to give beyond their means. If you would rather give something more specific for a particular family, we can let you know the needs. For example, this year a student asked for a blanket as her room that she shares is not heated well. My mom funded a family that has a dad with ALS who is just having a tough time keeping up with basics, the student asked for chapstick, facewash, deodorant, a toothbrush, socks for her mom, and a sweatshirt. When we do the holiday drive the parents are not asking for extravagant gifts, they are very similar basic needs and food resources.
