Short Film made in Wicklow

Donation protected
I am Dave Thomas, an award-winning filmmaker based in Arklow, Wicklow. My goal was to create a heart-warming short film with high production value that showcased County Wicklow, the many talented cast and crew we had in Wicklow and from around Ireland, and bring a story with a very important message to a national and international audience.

The goal was achieved! Thanks to the many donors listed here on this page.

With your support, the film will now be submitted to Oscar-qualifying film festivals, where it could be screened to large audiences while competing to get selected for an Oscar nomination.

Thank you for your support. Now, we need funding to pay for all the national and international film festival fees. Some range from €25 to €100. I am hoping we can raise more funds to cover these costs. Please consider supporting the film more. Our first trailer is now available below.

The Story
"Seven Moments in Time" poignantly explores the divide between generations, showcasing the potential for connection in unexpected places. The elderly man, with his weekly ritual on the park bench, represents the wisdom and traditions of the older generation, while the teenager embodies the vibrancy and innovation of youth.

Initially, their interactions highlight their differences—cultural misunderstandings and contrasting lifestyles create barriers. The young man's attempt to share his rap song, filled with modern references, is met with confusion, emphasizing the gap between their worlds.

However, as the story unfolds over seven moments, small gestures begin to bridge this divide. A shared sandwich, a sip of tea, and a light-hearted joke serve as catalysts for connection. These simple acts symbolize the universal human experiences of sharing and laughter, demonstrating that despite their differences, both characters have a deep need for companionship and understanding.

The climax, marked by the elderly man's absence, leaves the teenager reflecting on their newfound bond. This absence highlights the fragility of relationships and the importance of seizing moments with others, reminding audience members that connections can be fleeting yet profoundly impactful.

Ultimately, "Seven Moments in Time" advocates for empathy and the significance of bridging generational gaps, encouraging society to foster more meaningful interactions between young and old.
