The Savannah Children'sChoir is a non-profit, community supported, choral organization whose mission is to unite, mentor and transform Savannah's children into responsible, creative, and confident leaders through excellence in choral performance and music education. www.savannahchoir.org
The Premier Choir, children ages 12-14, will make a very special journey this summer. They will travel to Normandy, France, to perform and pay tribute to US Military lives lost on D-Day.
Our children must maintain a B average to keep their place in the choir. 100% of our children graduate high school and 99% have gone on to college.
Please help this incredible group of dedicated, talented children make this important journey. Your donation helps fund the trip for the choir. The cost is out of reach for many of our children, yet no one will be left behind.
Our choir works hard , and are dedicated to representing Savannah, and the United States, with excellence. Let them shine!
We have new and exciting updates to our story!
The Premier Choir of the Savannah Children's Choir has been chosen to sing the Saturday evening mass at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France on June 9. "We are humbled by this honor" exclaimed Janet Wooten, artistic director of the SCC. While many choirs are given permission to do brief performances in Notre Dame, the honor of participating in the actual service is quite selective.
The choir will travel to France on June 4th. While in France they will also perform on June 6, D Day at the Normandy Memorial. They will sing a new composition by trombonist and composer Wycliffe Gordon, entitled "A Soldier's Heart"
"From its inception the Savannah Children's Choir has striven to provide unique and life changing experiences for our children" stated board chair Lukejohn Dickson. "We look forward to representing Savannah in France this summer with two memorable performances" said co-founder and executive director Roger Moss.
