Amie Heckermann: I really don't know how to even start this post so I am going to wing it because our family needs a lot of good vibes, positive thoughts, and prayers. Whatever you believe in just please sent it our way. Our sweet, beautiful, funny, and talented Sarah has been in the hospital since early Sunday morning and we found out yesterday that she has Hodgkin's Lymphoma. (stage 4) It is in her neck, around her heart and in her lungs. She is in a great hospital with an amazing team of Doctors. She starts Chemotherapy tomorrow. Sarah will receive 5 rounds and each round is 3 weeks long for a total of 15 weeks. After that she will also get a few rounds of radiation but we aren't sure yet just how many. She may get to come home on Monday or Tuesday of next week but it depends on how she handles the Chemo. As you can imagine, we are devastated to hear this news. A parent never wants to hear those words..your child has cancer... it has rocked our family to it's core! However, we are a strong family and Sarah is a very STRONG girl so we are hopeful that she will pull through this. Thank you to all of you who have already reached out to help us. As soon as we get our thoughts together and a game plan for when she comes home, we will be taking you up on your offers.

The Heckermann's are a family of 6, that operates a Day Care from their home. Obviously with the current circumstances, life as they knew it has been tossed in the air. During this time, we know they will need help with prayers, thoughts, positive vibes, but they will also inevitably need financial assistance along the way.
