Take a trip down memory lane with this reel of images from Noel's long and distinguished service to his club and county
Noel Ryan’s contribution to the promotion of Gaelic Games in this
parish is incomparable. The time, energy and enthusiasm Noel has
invested into HWH Bunclody GAA Club and Bunclody Camogie club,
in particular to under age is breathtaking. It encompasses playing,
coaching under age and adult hurling ,football and camogie with some
notable county and national titles under his watch. He established
coiste na og in the club and was its first chairman. He has managed
and been involved with every grade of hurling, football and camogie in
the respective clubs.
He served on the adult committee for over four decades.
On the fundraising front he was always willing to put the shoulder to
the wheel and successfully ran for mayor of Bunclody in 1996, a title he
still holds today, in a mayoral election ran by the GAA Club to fund the
purchase and development of our top pitches.
He was a county hurling selector in the mid-eighties and part of
the great management team that won the Senior Camogie All
Ireland 2007. He has served in most positions in both clubs in official
and unofficial capacities, district and county board rep, head of
maintenance, pundit, critic, mechanic, political commentator, stalwart
and legend.
For a man that was always uncompromising and forthright with his
opinions, Noel is universally popular among the players that played
under him and is widely known throughout the county and beyond.
His list of achievements endless, his impact enormous.
