Ryan Greene Memorial Fundraiser

Hello, I wanted to introduce myself my name is Scott Reardon, I live in Yorktown Heights by way of Stony Point, Tompkins Cove,  Mahwah, the Bronx,  and Hartsdale, I have known Ryan since high school. I went to St. Joseph's Regional High School from 1989-1992. There I met and became friends with Ryan. Ryan transfered out to Nanuet HS to persue a better lacrosse team ;). I remained friends with Ryan though common friends like Joseph O'Callahan, Pat Dinnen and John "Buddy" Purvis.   If you knew Ryan you know he loved good friends, good food, good drink and probably most of all good lacrosse. Put them all together and it was always a good time.  Ryan was passionate about whatever he did. He loved his job and life's work bringing education to those that didn't have access.  Ryan was passionate about his friends and family and would do anything for them. He was always quick with a joke and could turn any situation into a memorable one.  Ryan was passionate about food, music, Notre Dame Football and the New York Yankees.  Ryan was passionate about many things but his deep love was lacrosse. Many, who knew him, knew it was always on his mind. Conversations many times led to the latest UNC/Hopkins matchup or the Denver/Notre Dame showdown.  When he found out I was moving to Yorktown, he would give me that look of approval and every conversation ended up talking about what positions my kids would probably play when they get to varsity.  Ryan played the sport with passion in his youth and was fortunate enough to be part of the first Manhattan College D1 Men's Lacrosse team as an Assistant Coach in 1996. The lacrosse world lost one of its most loyal and passionate promoters and fans in 2017. The world lost a great man, honorable son, loyal friend and lover of life.  A group of friends from around the country were trying to figure out ways to honor the man, the myth, the legend. The idea of the fundraiser came up from a Manhattan College alumni newsletter. This is a fundraiser to honor the life of Ryan Greene. The goal is to raise $55,000 in an effort to memorialize Ryan's name in the Manhattan College Lacrosse program. The Manhattan College lacrosse teams are privately raising funds in order to build out new locker room facilities in Gaelic Park in an effort to provide their Division 1 teams with adequate, modern facilities and to attract future talent.  All monies received would be donated to the Manhattan College Lacrosse Locker room project and cover the GoFundMe associated fees with the intention of cementing Ryans name in the program for which he helped launch. Since Ryan was one of the first coaches in the program, it would be fitting to help raise money to name the coaches room in his honor. We will be working with the Manhattan College head Lacrosse Coach,  Drew Kelleher as well as  Whitney Swab, Associate Athletic Director for Markeing, Fan and Donor Experience to help facilitate the transfer of monies and memorial to be put in place. We will be working with Ryan's parents to approve any memorial tribue to Ryan that comes about from the monies collected. Currently these funds are being deposited into an independent Chase Bank savings account under my name. We will target the end of the campaign to be Sept 1, 2018.  Upon mutual memorial approval I will be personally withdrawing and cutting a check for the entire amount collected minus GoFundMe fees paid to  Manhattan College and closing the savings account.
