Ruthie’s Island Eats started as a way to share the Island inspired cuisine that raised our family. For the past year, we’ve served LRAFB, Jacksonville, Cabot and throughout the State of Arkansas through pop-ups and catering, with a goal of opening our own small brick-and-mortar spot where the community can gather.

Last week, that dream hit a hard pause. Our daughter Crystal was admitted to the hospital, and as parents, our full focus is on her care and recovery. That means Ruthie’s has to temporarily close, and we’ve had to delay next steps on our restaurant plans.

What we’re facing:

- Immediate: Lost income from being closed while covering medical costs and regular bills

- Short-term: Permits, deposits, and equipment costs for the brick-and-mortar are now on hold

- Long-term: We still believe in this dream and want to bring Ruthie’s to a permanent home in Jacksonville

How funds will help:

1. Family first: Cover medical expenses and basic household needs while we’re unable to operate

2. Keep Ruthie’s alive: Catch up on existing business expenses so we don’t lose momentum

3. Brick-and-mortar fund: Secure deposits, licenses, and kitchen equipment when we’re ready to move forward again
