Ruthe's Alternative Medicine Fund
Donation protected
Ruthe Gluckson has shared her smiles, laughter and love with us her entire life. Now we have an opportunity to make her remaining time with us a bit more stress-free.
Diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma in 2002, Ruthe then had one kidney removed and hoped to be cancer-free. But in 2012 she was informed the cancer had returned and was at Stage 4 (metasticized). She had a course of chemotherapy but her reaction was so painful and debilitating, Ruthe barely wanted to live.
For 3 years Ruthe has been exploring nutrional and alternative medical paths. Since adding a customized program of Cannabis to her treatment plan, her "innumerable" cancer lesions seem to have stopped growing.
Medical insurance does not cover the cost of this care. Ruthe has no income other than a tiny pension and Social Security. Her children are all teachers - lovers of learning, life and nature (again thanks to Ruthe and our dad, Leonard), but none of them (us) are well-off financially.
This campaign is to support Ruthe in her Cannabis medications (about $300 per month) and improved dietary habits (plenty of organic vegetables and fruits whenever possible, plus nutritional supplements as directed by Ruthe's holistic M.D.).
This is being written by Ruthe's younger son Jeffrey. I admire and adore this woman, and feel privileged to have been born to and raised by her. I've committed to caring for, and sharing with, sweet Ruthe for the rest of her days, whether that's just a few remaining, or several years' duration.
Ruthe became a Great Grandmother in December 2016. Little "Lani Ruthe Foster" (named after great-grammy!) lives in Australia, with Ruthe's granddaughter Whitney (and - nearby - Ruthe's daughter, my baby sister Kory). My hope is that Lani may grow to know her dear, open-hearted, fun and loving great-grandma. With your contributions, we will immediately cover the costs of Ruthe's herbal medications, nutritional supplements, and quality food. Any excess will support Ruthe in home repairs and adaptations (grip bars, improved lighting, etc.) which are likely to become necessary as she ages at home.
I will be grateful from the depths of my heart for every contribution, and for every day this angel-of-a-woman remains sharing her joy with us on this earth. Thank you.
