Running for a Father's Dream

Hi, my name is Rico, and I am fundraising for a good friend of mine who will remain anonymous at this point as I chose to protect his and his family's privacy. A loving father of two teenage boys and an 8-year-old girl, a dedicated husband and a true friend.

My friend was recently diagnosed with stage 3B cancer. The doctors did not waste any time and removed the mass from his body two days after diagnosis. Further treatment requires 8 sessions of chemotherapy and CT scans every 3rd session to evaluate how the treatment is going.

With modest means and with the expensive treatments, his family's savings have already been depleted from the first few rounds of chemotherapy and he had already chosen to skip a couple of CT scans to keep the treatment going due to lack of funds.

My wife Jen and I have been helping his family with what we have and can give but I have decided to run the Flying Pig Half Marathon and open this fundraiser to raise funds to complete his treatment. Aptly named " Running for a Father's Dream" as beating cancer to be there for his family is his dream.

My goal is to raise $3,000.00 so he can get an absolute chance of beating cancer and fulfilling his dream.

AND.. since the Flying Pig Half Marathon is pretty close, (May 7th 2023) someone is MATCHING DONATIONS leading up to the race UP TO $500!!!

AND.. if I meet my dream of running the half marathon in 2 hours and below I will personally add an additional match of $250 for donations after the race!!
