Hi! My name is Nora Janapareddi. I am 9 years old. I go to Bowman School in Lexington, Massachusetts. I will turn 10 soon. I am starting this GoFundMe to raise money for something very important to me: higher education.
Last year, I did a GoFundMe for my karate training. Thanks to everyone who helped, I earned my first-degree black belt in the Kyokushin Kai. It is a type of karate. This time, I want to do something even bigger. This is not just for me. It is for other people, too.
This summer, from June through August, I am doing a Run for Higher Ed.
I will walk, run, and move every day to support learning. My goal is to take 1 million steps and raise $10,000. That is one cent per step. 1¢ x 1,000,000 steps = $10,000
You can see my progress on Pacer.
Why am I doing this?
I learned that higher education needs more help right now. I know this because my Dad is a professor. Even though I am just a kid, I believe learning should be for everyone. I want to do my part and show that kids can make a difference too.
Why I care:
I visit Harvard sometimes because of my Dad. I get to meet his students, who are smart, kind and fun. I always leave with a new memory. One day, I hope I can go to college too. I love learning new things.
Where the money goes:
All the money will go to a fund at Harvard that supports higher education. I picked Harvard because it is the place I know best. I visit there often to spend time with my Dad's students, but I want this to help students everywhere.
Walk with us on the weekends:
I am planning to do group walks or runs each weekend. I will be walking and running all summer long if you want to join me. If you have a college or university T-shirt, please wear it.
❤️ Thank you for reading my message, cheering me on, and moving with me.
Let’s walk. Let’s run. Let’s help others learn.
Love,
Nora
