Welcome and thank you for joining me in this adventure!
I am happy to announce that I am one of the four conductors selected among hundreds of applicants to participate in two different Conducting Workshop and Competition. The first one will be held in October at the Royal College of Music at the University of Oxford in London, ranked as the no.1 music program in the world according to QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024. The second one will be held in January in Atlanta, Georgia and I'll be able to work with the Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra. This is a great opportunity to work with Maestros Toby Purser and Adrian Gnam.
As an international student living in the U.S. my work status is very limited and that's why I need your support to achieve my goal and cover all the expenses. This opportunity could represent a significant turn in my career, being one in a life time opportunity and also a result of many years of training and growing as conductor. BE PART OF MY JOURNEY!

More about me...
My (full) name is Juan-David Domínguez-Rincón, I am originally from Bogotá, Colombia. Music for me is still an enigma in many ways, but I am sure of a couple things, I love it, it helps me manage my emotions and feelings, helps me to meet wonderful peeps and connect with them, and furthermore, I hope to be an influence in the culture somehow to help us think different and relate to one another in a more loving ways.
I just started my Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in orchestra conducting at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia and finished my Master of Music (MM) at the University of Northern Iowa. In 2017 I graduated from my undergrad at Academia Superior de Artes de Bogotá.
I arrived in the U.S. in July of 2022, looking to grow my artistry and musicianship as a conductor after spending the previous four years in Bogotá developing the Orquesta Sinfónica Metropolitana de Bogotá 'La Met' which I founded with the purpose of developing myself as a conductor and open space for professional development to professional musicians and advanced students, this orchestra was considered as one of the most outreaching for young professionals in Colombia achieving its recording debut in 2021 and participating in the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards featuring five original tone poems with influences of traditional Colombian and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. If you want to learn more about this orchestra please visit our channels:
Some of my most recent teachers include...
Sarah Ioannides, Music Director of Washington State’s Symphony Tacoma. Director of Orchestral Activities and Professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Boston University College of Fine Arts.
Ankush Bahal, Music Director of the Omaha Symphony.
James Bagwel. Associate conductor of The Orchestra Now (TON). Professor of Music and music program director at Bard College, and Director of Performance Studies in the Bard College Conservatory of Music. He serves as Co-Director of the Bard Conservatory Graduate Program in Conducting.
I was part of the Aspen Music Festival & School in the summer of 2023 and in 2024 I was a Fellow of the Sphinx Connect in Detroit, MI. This summer I attended the Omaha Symphony Conducting Seminar and the Cascade Conducting Masterclass. Upcoming invitations are the Conducting Workshop & Competition in Atlanta, Georgia in January, 2025.
